It's Jacaranda Season Again - Unley Oval Reserve to Host Series Decider
The Unley Oval Criterium is back for 2021! After a last minute COVID snap lockdown in SA forced the rounds cancellation of the event for 2020, we have our fingers crossed that we’ll get to run this one this year! Nestled within the quiet Unley backstreets, the picturesque course is lined with jacaranda trees; the flowers of which are usually at their iridescent peak come late spring. Just as the flowers will be reaching their peak, the 2021 MetroMap Super Series will be close to crescendo as the eighth round of the series gets under way around the Unley Oval Circuit!
We are excited to announce that we have secure the support of the City of Unley for not just 2021, but all the way through 2023 for this event to take place! We are in good company in terms of the City of Unley’s sponsored events, and we are grateful for the opportunity to lock in this event’s place in the Super Series for the next three years.
This Unley Oval Reserve Criterium will decide the final standings in all but the Elite grades, so we will see the SCODY GC, Mischief Brew Sprint Classifications, Pangkarra Foods Masters Classification and the Adelaide Bike Fit Young Rider Class all decided in Masters 1, Men’s, Women’s and Masters 2, and Cat 3 Men and Women. As the final round of the 99 Bikes Junior Super Series, we will also know who has taken the Series in in all of our Junior grades and be crowned Super Series champions!
GM Events (Road, Para, Esports) Lachie Ambrose, loves a jacaranda. “It was a great disappointment to the Series that we couldn’t finish up here last year, and we know with a few improvements this will be a better and more colourful than the 2019 edition. A fitting end to the majority of grades’ 2021 MetroMap Super Series!”
