Butterfields Racing returning with strong Numbers
Butterfields Racing returns to the Super Series this year with its biggest and most exciting line up in its three year history. With three teams across both women’s categories, Butterfields is demonstrating its continued strong commitment to developing women’s cycling in South Australia.
Butterfields has become one of the most well known names across the Adelaide racing scene during the past years. With association through the mens National Road Series team, Butterfields-Appselec p/b Van D'am, the air conditioning company has since stepped up to become naming sponsors for the Butterfields Racing female team.
Along with new sponsors Greenhill, an engineering services company, Alexander Symonds, a commercial and industrial projects company and David Miller Product Designs (check out his mean Garmin mount design) the future of the team is looking brighter than ever as they make their bid to become one the best South Australian women's teams.
Lining up for the Butterfields Elite Blue will be team leader and last years runner-up, Jenny MacPherson. MacPherson will look to push for victory again this year as well as defend her masters category win from last year. There is some exciting young talent coming through including Hannah Seeliger who thrives under the team environment and will be mentored by the more experienced Maddie Steele, Gemma Kernich and Holly Chance. Multiple stage winner in category 2 last year, Kelly Fettes steps up into the elite field this year and will be one to watch as she continues her rapid progression.
Butterfields Elite has recruited their newest rainbow jersey holder in Ella Sibley and they look forward to welcoming back the strength and experience of Jessica Mundy. With a depth of older and younger riders, they have tried to find the balance between youth and experience with new recruits Hailey Mason and Jill Seeman keen to assist SueAnne Woodwiss and Annoushka Scharnberg to get their leaders onto the podium.
Their category 2 women's team has some exciting new names with Paige Greco and Meg Lemon hot off international success and looking forward to developing further under the leadership of the Butterfields Elite women. New recruits for the Cat 2 team include Emma Seeliger, Shelby Johnson and Alice Jolly with the experienced Aneeka Smith rounding out the Butterfields squad for 2019/2020
"We have picked our teams to include riders with a range of skills and strengths. With all bases covered, this will give us the best opportunity for team success. Our goal is to make the most of our team strengths, throw some victory salutes and raise a glass in celebration of a podium in a few categories wins at the end!"
