Mercedes-Benz Blackchrome Return After a Dominant 2016

Returning for the 2017 Super Series with a bumper squad is South Australia’s only Women’s National Road Series team - Mercedes-Benz Blackchrome.  Building on previous Elite Women’s and Masters squads, this year the team will be running both an Elite Women’s team and a Category 2 Women’s team.  With a diverse group of riders across a range of abilities, the Mercedes-Benz Blackchrome will add depth to both categories of women’s racing in the Super Series.

The Mercedes-Benz Blackchrome team also adds both a national and international flavour to the series with their broad squad including riders from both interstate and across the Tasman, keen to experience the quality of racing in South Australia’s premier racing series. The addition of riders from interstate and overseas will provide an injection of rider numbers resulting in a further increase in the excitement level of the races and create new tactical dilemmas.

The team is supported by two local companies, in Mercedes-Benz Adelaide and Blackchrome Sportswear. Blackchrome Sportswear has over 12 years’ experience in the designing, manufacturing and distribution of customised, made-to-order, sublimated sportswear. A proud Adelaide company, they have supplied sports wear to every side of the world.

Local rider, Jess Mundy, will be keen to animate races off the back of a long season spent racing for Team Colavita based in the USA.  With an early season European campaign across the cobbles of Belgium, before a packed schedule of road tours and criteriums across the USA, watch for Jess’s experience to shine through at the Copper Coast Cup with its long dirt sections and technical criterium circuit.

One rider with their eye on the Round Two individual time trial up the Old Freeway will be local climbing superstar Nusha Kerin. A specialist climber with a keen eye on the details for covering the 6km climb as efficiently as possible, Nusha is the favourite to repeat her victory of 2016.

They will be looking to repeat their dominant performances of 2016 where they took out the overall with Victoria Veitch with team-mate Mundy coming in second along with the Team's Overall with almost double the points of their nearest rival the South Australian Sports Institute.
