Edmondson Lines up for Round 3 of the #SuperSeries17

Alex Edmondson, the Olympic medallist, multiple world champion and professional road rider with Orica-Scott will be making his 2017 Super Series debut at Round 3. Taking place in a short and fast twilight format at Victoria Park, Edmondson will be lining up with the all-conquering IsoWhey - SwissWellness p/b Cervelo Cycling Team.

Isowhey-SwissWellness has recently been crowned as the strongest domestic team after the recent Tour of Gippsland. This is despite there still being one round of the 2017 National Road Series to go. This is a title that they have owned over the past decade. However, they won’t have it all their own way, with the Australian Track Endurance team, Mitchelton Scott lining up against them. The two teams battled it out at the recent Tour of Gippsland, with Mitchelton-Scott coming out ahead in this battle. After missing Round 2, Michelton Scott's Welsford will be keen to retake the leader’s jersey from Lightsview Cycling’s Tom Kaesler.

In the Elite Women’s Race, yellow Jersey wearer Breana Hargrave of SASI will be looking to open some breathing space on Round 2 winner Victoria Veitch. A talented climber, Veitch is also more than capable of upstaging the sprinters at Victoria Park, as she proved at round one of the 2016 series where she took the win. They will both be wanting to build a buffer between themselves and third-placed Chloe Moran who is unable to start Round 3 due to her commitments with the National Track team.

Moran’s absence will allow several other riders to get themselves into the game in the young riders category, where Maeve Plouffe (SASI-Blue) is set to pounce. The leader of the sprint Classification, Georgia Baker, is also unavailable this round, leaving it wide open for other riders to take the lead in this competition.

Racing starts from 5:30 with the Category One Masters. Keystone Cycling’s Phill Dixon took the opening round, but with the strength of the Lightsview and BE-BMW teams, it will be a real battle for him to maintain his lead.

The Velo Precinct will be open, keeping everyone caffeinated and fed after work. Racing will be short and fast due to the limited daylight hours available, ensuring some extremely fast racing.

If you can’t be there, make sure you tune into Cycling South Australia’s Social Media Channels to stay up to date with all events!
