Norwood Cycling Club ready to tackle new Challenge

The well-established Norwood Cycling Club is looking forward to their debut at the 2017 Super Series.A team filled with cycling lovers, Norwood have built their inaugural team on experience from a diverse age group of riders. One of the more experienced is Frank Smith, the former State Road Champ and National Road Series rider will line up as road captain and will be one to watch in the Men’s Category Two.Joining Smith will be David Gomer, who is a multiple master’s medallist in both national and international events as well as Jason Tattersal. Tom Baxter offers the team a solid sprint option and lcoals might recognise him from his Clipsal Cycling Team days where he was a prolific winner. As a club supported team, Norwood hopes to introduce and expose their members to fun off teams racing - without the pressures of the elite environment. Their main goal is participation and they hope they can represent their club proudly as well as grab a few results. The Norwood Cycling Club has a proud tradition as the oldest cycling club in the Southern Hemisphere. The club was formed in 1883 by a group of penny farthing enthusiasts who enjoyed a mutual interest in cycling and racing. The club has grown from there going from strength to strength, and it maintains its proud traditions as the biggest club in the state. They have experienced team manager Michael Slater behind them and previously he has managed National Road Series teams Veneziano/Blefari Cycling Team and the Swiss Wellness Cycling Team more recently.Team List:Ben LewisAndrew ThompsonPatrick WalshTom BaxterDavid GomerDaniel SmithJason TattersalFrank SmithTeam Manager: Michael Slater
